As you know, the impact of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has become a concern across the world. This impact has necessitated the Vermont State USBC Board of Directors to discuss the upcoming events scheduled in the next couple months. We appreciate your support in the following decisions:
* The Women’s State Championships – Brattleboro (March 14, 2020, through March 22, 2020)
This event will be held as scheduled. Each participant has the choice to not attend the event if she feels it is best for her health or her family. If so, please contact the Tournament Manager, Alanna Parker (email: firstname.lastname@example.org), and request a refund. Refunds will be granted and sent at the same time as tournament prizes.
* The Vermont State Youth Handicap Tournament – Springfield (March 29, 2020)
This event has been postponed. Our top concern is the health and safety of our bowlers and their families. Many of our participants have siblings, parents, grandparents and others who cheer them on at this event, and we want to ensure their safety. Refunds will be sent to the bowlers or coordinated with the youth directors in their areas. For bowlers who raised enough money to receive a bowling ball, we will reach out to determine if you want the ball or all of the money returned. We hope to reschedule this event if at all possible this season once we have a better grasp on the situation.
* The Open State Championships – St. Johnsbury (April 25, 2020, through May 17, 2020)
At this time, this event will be held as scheduled. Applications for the tournament will continue to be collected. Each participant has the choice to not attend the event if he or she feels it is best for his/her health or family. If so, please contact the Tournament Manager, Tracy Cook (email: email@example.com), and request a refund.
We will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions that we feel are responsible and in the best interest of the communities we serve. Again, the health and safety of our bowlers and their families are our top concern.
Thank you for your understanding,
Jeff Cook, President
Vermont State USBC
